HOT OFF THE PRESSES!

Has your unit submitted paperwork for the Centennial Quality Unit award?

Will your unit be rechartering online this year?  It is an option for 2008 and will be required in 2009.  Our District Director has three years experience with online rechartering as a professional in the Pony Express Council.  Don't heistate to call him or our Registrar if you have any questions.

The National Council has merged their online training modules into one site, The Online Learning Center, and is developing other supplemental training modules which they are posting on their site. You can also find the contents of the current Requirements book online.

According to the BSA Web Site Maintenance page, the National Commissioner of Scouting has agreed to do a series of audio podcasts to provide support and assistance to council, district, and unit commissioners .

A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

This is an unofficial site and in no way is condoned or supported by the Boy Scouts of America, Ozark Trails Council, or Pathfinder District. Its only purpose is to serve as a resource for registered Scouters attending the Pathfinder District Boy Scout roundtable in Springfield, Missouri. While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information found on this site, nothing on these web pages should be interpreted as official policy.  Use it only at your own risk.  For official rules, regulations, policy, and guidance you should contact a member of your local Council's professional staff or refer to the official literature of the Boy Scouts of America - including the current issues of Guide to Safe Scouting, youth protection resources, Advancement Committee Policies and Procedures, Insignia Guide, tour permis (local and national), the Wilderness Use Policy, both the Adult and Youth membership applications, uniform inspection sheets for youth and leaders, various factsheets, the Introductory Guide for Merit Badge Counselors, and the current year's Boy Scout Requirements.  While not "official", our friends at USScouts.org are ever vigilant regarding changes in rank and merit badge requirements, too.

Roundtables are continuing education for all levels of adult troop leadership - Scoutmaster, assistant Scoutmaster, troop committee member, chartered organization representative, and unit commissioner.  They are much more than just a forum for announcements.  They are held monthly to give adult leaders the skills and ideas needed to deliver an exciting Boy Scout program and also serve to renew each Scouter's enthusiasm and dedication.  Both are vital to make the program the best it can be.  The subject of each roundtable is selected to emphasize important aspects of the Boy Scout program and feature a monthly training segment.  Keep up to date - please make sure that at least one leader from your troop attends; more if possible!

A good roundtable is constantly changing to meet the needs of those in attendance. Please forward any suggestions, comments, or broken link reports to Steve Zeiler.

Roundtables  are usually conducted on the first Thursday of  each month, with the formal program starting at 7:00 PM at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 925 E. Seminole Street, Springfield, MO (two blocks west of St. John's Surgery Center).  Click here for a map.  The Boy Scout leaders will be meeting in Luther Hall.  Boy Scout leaders, Cub Scout leaders, and youth members of the Osage Chapter of the Wah-Sha-She OA lodge conduct their respective meetings at the same time on their campus.

Any registered leader can complete Fast Start, Youth Protection certification, Safety Afloat, Safe Swim Defense, and the Troop Committee Challenge online!  Remember, Youth Protection certification should be renewed every two years. You simply go to the BSA's Online Learning Cener.  Have your membership number handy and the council will be notified of your completion of that training.

Click here for a list of previous roundtable topics and handouts. Click  here for a list of special topics we will be covering through January 2009 and nationally-planned themes through December 2010.

Your next chance to attend our roundtable will be Thursday, January 3, 2008.  Planned topics include using the Communications theme and a topic to be determined at our December 2007 roundtable.  Please bring a fellow Scouter (or two) and all your good ideas. We look forward to seeing you there.
